Meet Special Guest Armand Mellot
Armand is a16th generation member of the Mellot family, which has winemaking roots dating back to 1513. Specializing in viticulture and oenology studies, Armand has gained hands-on experience from around the world, including achieving a Vintage Master's and WSET Level 3 Certification.
Returning to Sancerre after his studies, Armand officially joined Maison Joseph Mellot, contributing to technical and business development, alongside his mother, Catherine Corbeau-Mellot, and brother, Adrien.
The Joseph Mellot family and winery has their roots in Sancerre - its history began 500 years ago with Pierre-Etienne, the first in our long line of winemakers. At the end of the 17th century, César Mellot was King Louis XIV’s Wine Adviser.
Over time, Joseph Mellot expanded by acquiring new vineyards. Nowadays, their Portfolio includes a wide variety of wines from the Centre-Loire Region. Joseph Mellot Winery produces all 8 Centre-Loire AOCs (‘Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée’): Sancerre, Menetou-Salon, Pouilly-Fumé, Pouilly-sur-Loire, Quincy, Reuilly, Coteaux du Giennois and Châteaumeillant.
