About Aaron Miller

Aaron Miller has been at the helm of PlumpJack's winemaking efforts since 2012. A California native, Miller originally set his sights on medical school, earning a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from UC Davis. However, an eye-opening internship in an ER led him to rethink his path.
During his time at UC Davis, Miller discovered the university's renowned enology program and pivoted to pursue a Master of Science in Viticulture and Enology. He gained valuable experience working at the acclaimed Tignanello in Italy and RimuGrove in New Zealand, as well as at Napa Valley wineries, including Pine Ridge, Lewis Cellars, and Groth.
Miller's dedication and passion for crafting Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon has earned PlumpJack multiple 100-point scores from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
About The PlumpJack Collection
The PlumpJack Collection brings together four Napa Valley wineries, united by a commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and being great stewards of this land, from PlumpJack Estate Winery in Oakville to CADE Estate Winery and 13th Vineyard on Howell Mountain and Odette Estate Winery in the Stags Leap District.
The PlumpJack Journey: From Oakville to the World Stage
1995: The Beginning – Founded by Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty, the collection began with the establishment of PlumpJack Estate Winery in the heart of Oakville, Napa Valley.
2000: Challenging Tradition – The winery made global headlines by bottling half of its Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon under screw caps. This bold move challenged the "cork-only" luxury wine standard and established PlumpJack as a pioneer in wine preservation.
2005–2010: High-Elevation Innovation – The founders expanded to Howell Mountain to create CADE Estate Winery. In 2010, CADE became the first estate winery in California to be LEED Gold Certified, reflecting a deep commitment to environmental stewardship.
2012: Expanding the Portfolio – The collection grew to include Odette Estate Winery in the Stags Leap District. This year was also a turning point for leadership, as Aaron Miller joined as Head Winemaker for PlumpJack Estate.
2016–Present: Legacy & Adaptation – The portfolio expanded further with the acquisition of the historic 13th Vineyard on Howell Mountain (one of the valley's earliest gravity-flow facilities) and the permanent establishment of Adaptation, a label focused on making the diverse terroir of Napa Valley approachable and dynamic.
Today, the PlumpJack Collection is defined by its "Commitment to Green" philosophy, with multiple LEED Gold and organic certifications (CCOF) across its estates, proving that world-class luxury and ecological responsibility go hand-in-hand.
